Americans United for Life

I know how very busy you all are and thought I would update you on what is going on in Washington D C.  I receive e-mails from Americans United for Life and just got this one in my in-box.  I am sharing this with you just to keep you up to date, not that you have to do anything about it, except, please pray.  If the Lord leads you to become more involved, I put their web address at the bottom of this post.

Charmaine Yoest writes in her e-mail:

Dear Friend of Life,
We need to act now to prevent Planned Parenthood and its allies from using the Congressional lame duck session to expand taxpayer-funded abortion to U.S. military bases.

Here's the situation: hidden within this year's Defense Authorization Bill is an amendment allowing military clinics to conduct abortions using your tax dollars. Written by outgoing Democrat Senator Roland Burris, this amendment decimates commonsense pro-life policy and allows military personnel to perform elective abortions in military facilities.

Simply put, the Burris amendment diverts limited resources to elective abortions that should instead be devoted to healing and protecting members of our armed services.

The lame duck Senate could begin discussion on this bill at any time so we must act immediately.

New leadership may be on the way to Washington, but the Senate still remains under the control of Harry Reid and his anti-life coalition. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood stands ready to cash-in some political favors in the next couple of weeks. With taxpayer-funded abortion on the ropes, anti-life lobbyists are scrambling to secure new forms of government funding. And military bases are their top target for expanding taxpayer-funded abortion. We cannot let them win or this reckless policy will become law for years to come.

We refuse to let Planned Parenthood gain the upper hand during this critical legislative period. Our military bases should be safe havens for our troops – not abortion clinics. And with your support, they will remain that way.

P.S. The Pro-Abortion Opponents of Life are digging in for a last ditch effort to reward Planned Parenthood with political favors during the lame duck session. Right now their top legislative priority is the Burris Amendment, which would allow military clinics to conduct abortions using your tax dollars

Count Down to 2011

As we find ourselves in the final weeks of 2010, I just wanted to offer encouragement and words from the Lord to under-gird us.  I know that this time of the year can be overwhelming as we try to Christmas shop, attend and throw parties and focus on our families.

I, personally, just want to take a deep breath and allow these words from God to sink deep into my heart!  My prayer is that you will be encouraged through these words, embrace December with your whole heart and enjoy the last 5 weeks of the year!!

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Now, you might not think this is encouraging, but this is what I felt the Lord saying to me:  He has not crushed me, but cushioned me; He has not placed me in a pit of despair, but lifted me up; He has not abandoned me, but carried me through it all; He has not allowed me to be struck down, but kept me from being destroyed by His mighty right hand.

He is a God of love, yeah, unconditional love!  May God shine His face upon you today and reveal Himself to you in a mighty and powerful way!  Blessing Beloved of the Lord!

Media Revolution Ministries

A non-profit called Media Revolution Ministries is the home of a pro-life Internet outreach called the Online for Life project.
They connect abortion-minded men and women with PRC's using Internet marketing techniques.
You can see more at    www.onlineforlife.org
If your Center would like to partner in a project with them, contact them at their web site Online for Life.  They do their own fundraising, so they don't charge the PRC's for their work.

Unity of Command

In reading, Kay Arthur's "How to Stand Firm Against the Five Deadly D's: Disappointment, Discouragement, Dejection, Despair and Demoralization", I came across this page.  I felt led to share it with you because we are at war and we do face warfare!  The enemy is roaring like a lion and searching to devour us!  My desire is that we are all unified in heart and mind for Him.  As we all are very busy in our own ministries, let us remember we are not in battle against each other, but joined together in heart and mind for Him and His calling!  He is a God that is for LIFE!  Let us move forward for Him, for LIFE and for the unborn in unity!  May God place His mighty hands upon you and bless you in a mighty and powerful way today!!

Another principle in war is unity of command.  Unity of command coordinates action of forces toward a common goal.  Although coordination may be attained by cooperation, it is best achieved by vesting a single commander with necessary authority.  Simply said, it keeps everyone going in the same direction at the same time with the same goal.

One of the great struggles of World War II was the tension between the British Field Marshal Montgomery and American General Patton.  Although they had the same goal, defeat of the Germans, there were times when their efforts were competitive, not cooperative.  Each had their own idea of how to fight, where to fight, and who should do the fighting - and as far as each was concerned, it should be him!  Each wanted the glory of victory.  It took the unity of command in General Eisenhower to keep the effort moving together for the common goal of defeating Nazi Germany.

One reason why the Church is not succeeding against the enemy any more than it is in the U.S. is because it lacks unity of command.  We're so divided into our own little splinter groups that we end up fighting each other rather than the enemy.

And the reason why so many are failing in warfare as individuals is because they have ignored the right of the Lord Jesus Christ to have supreme authority and rule in their life.  Our objective is often not His objective, which is to conquer ungodliness and for us to be holy even as He is holy.  Our desire is often to be our own commander, unless, of course, we find ourselves in an impossible situation.

I remember a medley of songs having to do with victory in warfare over the enemy from many years ago.  I would sing it over and over.  Some of the lyrics from one song were: "For the captain of the host is Jesus, we're following His footsteps, no foe can stand against us in the fray.  We are marching in Messiah's band, the keys of victory in His mighty hand, let us march on to take our promised land."

Just before Joshua and the children of Israel were ready to take Jericho, Joshua "...lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him,

'Are you for us or for our adversaries?'  He said, 'No; rather I indeed come now as the captain of the host of the Lord.'  And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, 'What has my lord to say to his servant?'  The captain of the Lord's host said to Joshua, 'Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.'  And Joshua did so"  (Joshua 5:13-15)

If you want victory, remember, beloved believers, there is one Captain of the host, no other.  Know Him through His Word.  Follow Him, and you will win the war.  It is already written in the Word.

A Goal

It has come to light that Planned Parenthood has announced one of their 2011 goals.  They plan to increase their services by 30%.  What they actually are saying, is that they desire to increase their abortions by 30%.

If their goal is reached, we will have many more wounded and broken men and women who have gone through with an abortion.

How do we come alongside and help them to heal?  I personally think by offering more post-abortion healing classes, by having volunteers and staff ready and trained for their arrival and by seeking the Lord for His guidance and direction for 2011.

So, now that we know one of Planned Parenthood's goals, what goal has the Lord placed upon your heart for 2011?  What goal has He given for your ministry for 2011?

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
